Spa Sweethearts Women’s Institute, Harrogate

Welcome to the site that will tell you all you need to know about Spa Sweethearts WI.

Most people will have preconceived ideas about the Women’s Institute; jam and Jerusalem will spring to most minds! And even though jam making did feature in our first year, there is much more to it than that.

We aim to challenge women to leave their preconceptions behind and come to the WI with an open mind. Whether you visit Spa Sweethearts, or another WI which is closer to home, we want you to get as much from your experience as we do – so forget those stereotypes and find out what the WI is really all about.

After a fantastic response to our 100 Years, 100 Members campaign in the WI centenary year of 2015, we had more than 100 members in Spa Sweethearts.

Membership for 2018 opened in January, and many of our members renewed. There were a few spaces available for new members which have been offered to the people on the waiting list. If you have missed the membership renewal window then do not worry you can attend most of our meetings as a guest and then be the first to hear about when the membership window is open next year. Click here for more information on guest places.

Our 2018 programme is here, so you can see what we are up to this year. We aim to make it as varied and interesting as possible, and all we ask is that members come to as many meetings as they can and give everything a go – you never know, you might find a new hobby or a hidden talent along the way! And every month, we have meetings of our craft group, book club, board game players, cocktail enthusiasts and more, which are only open to members. What more could you ask for?

You can find out more about us on this website, visit our Facebook page or get in touch if you want to ask any questions.

We look forward to seeing you at a future meeting. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome!

In November, join us for an evening of barbershop music from Harrogate Harmony Barbershop Chorus. The gents will cover a broad range of popular songs and we’ll enjoy a sing-a-long set from their ukulele group – the ‘Misspent Ukes’.

Guest spaces are available for this evening and cost £5 (payable on the evening) click here to sign up to reserve your space.

Although it is not our birthday this month we did really enjoy having so many cakes last time so if you did feel like bringing something along – feel free 🙂
