January 2019: Marie Curie

Spa Sweethearts started 2019 with a visit from Marie Curie. Nicola is part of the fundraising committee for the Harrogate area and told us her story, explaining why she got involved with this charity. We then had a talk from Damaris, a Marie Curie nurse, who explained how the nurses offer help and support from 10pm to 7am for terminally ill people and their families. She told us several life affirming stories and took questions from the audience. Nicola then told us about some upcoming Marie Curie events such as a Firewalk, Ascot day and the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Hall. If anyone would like to get involved please see the local Marie Curie Facebook page. We then held a grand raffle of donated gifts and raised £69 for the charity. Thank you to all the Sweethearts who came to support this wonderful charity.
