In July we were joined by Janine from Bead for an amazing evening making our own bracelets. After a little introduction we were tasked with choosing our beads… and what a task it was. There was a huge selection of different colours, shapes and sizes and it was very hard to pick! Once we had finally decided on our selection it was time to create our bracelets (or anklets). With the assistance of Janine and her helpers we created some lovely pieces. There was a lot of concentration around the room mixed with lots of tea and cake. In was a very fun evening and we all left with our very own handmade bead bracelet. Have a look at some of our creations below.
In June we went on a fantastic treasure hunt, despite the British Summer weather! There was a super turn out, with over 30 + Sweethearts complete with brollies.
The treasure hunt ended at the lovely Corner Haus, where we were treated to a super spread of very tasty food and wonderful hospitality, catering for all. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble!
I expect many of us will be making a return visit soon!
The winning team were………drum roll!
Sarah, Nohreen, Lizzie and Rachel . Well done x
Since we announced the year’s programme people have been asking “What are Softpots?”and at May’s meeting we found out! We were joined by ‘Annie Softpot’ who told us all about her invention: the Softpot. Basically she reuses a leg from a pair of tights (which would otherwise be rotting very slowly in landfill) and turns it into a beautiful creation. There were large pots, small pots, pots for veg, pots for houseplants and even a dragon holding a Softpot egg! Annie was a very entertaining speaker and showed us exactly how to make a beautiful pot for an ivy which was then won on the raffle by a lucky Sweetheart. Lots of our members bought kits so they could try out this wonderful new idea at home and the craft groups next meeting will have a Softpot theme. If any of our members missed the meeting but would like to find out Annie has an informative website which should tell you all you need to know.
