The Spa Sweethearts need to be able to raise enough money each year to pay someone to lead each monthly meeting and make sure we all get as much as possible out of our membership. We will hold regular fundraising sessions and are always happy to take suggestions of ways to raise more money. If you have an idea, or would like to join our fundraising committee, which meets once a month or less, contact a committee member.
Spa Sweethearts WI was formed with the aim of giving people a way to make friends and have fun, so socialising is to be a big part of what we do. Outside our monthly meetings, the social committee helps to organise things for us to do such as quizzes, theatre trips and nights out. If you have a suggestion of something we could do together, or if you’d like to help organise events, contact a committee member.
The craft and knitting group meets every few weeks, depending on when members are available – usually the first Thursday of the month. People bring their own craft projects to work on, but we are also currently working on a joint project: bunting depicting our history and experiences so far. We will provide the materials and instructions for this and members give up their time and skills to put everything together. If you’d like to help us, or would like to bring your own craft project along to one of the craft sessions, speak to a committee member or send us an email.
The book group tends to meet on the third Thursday of every month at the Swan on the Stray, so members can enjoy a drink or two while discussing the latest book. If you are interested in going along, please send us an email and we will add you to the mailing list.
Mother and youngster group
If you are interested in the mother and youngster group, please get in touch with a committee member or send us an email.
Board games group
Some competitive Sweethearts meet regularly to play boardgames – and we’re not just talking Monopoly. If you’re interested in obscure games which hardly anybody has heard of, but which are great fun, this group is for you. Get in touch with a committee member or send us an email.
Watch this space
Over the coming months, we will keep you posted on news and any new groups formed, with details of how you can join.
Alternatively, if you have an idea for a sub group, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
